Our Love Story

Jon was born and raised in Hayward California to Salvacion Calleja Segarra and Levino Segarra on February 15, 1980. He is the 4th child out of 5 siblings.

Jon graduated from Mount Eden High School in 1998 and 2 years later decided to pursue a graphic art design

career where he attended Silicon Valley College. He completed the program and began his first graphic design/production artist position in Union City, California.

After working for multiple design companies, he landed a job with Bedrock Consultants in 2008 in Oakland California which lead him to his current job with Ernst & Young as a Customer Experience Designer.

He enjoys skateboarding, golfing, hiking, baseball, biking, and snowboarding.

Growing up, Jon has always had a passion for skateboarding and the street wear culture. In fact, Jon and his older brother Len used to design and sell t-shirts when they were in their early teen years. He knew that one day he'd want to run his own clothing line.

Through many years of hard work, jon was able to accomplish his dreams.  In 2010 City League was born and a year later established a partnership with David Delmundo to create the City League LLC.

Today, City League has gained a world wide following and continues to grow through sales and partnerships.

Cultured Roots Release Party

2008

Jon and Cherilyn knew of each other in high school, but never really talked.

It wasn't until 2006 that they connected after one incident that occured Friday night/early morning when Jon's sister in law called him and asked if he could pick us up at a club in downtown San Mateo because the individual who was supposed to take us home ended up leaving. Jon ended up coming to the rescue!

A couple months later, he friended me on MYPACE. He sent me a message telling me I owed him dinner for coming to the rescue jokingly of course.

I honestly didn't think anything of it and didn't take it seriously. At this time I had been going through an up and down relationship and just really wanted to focus on taking care of my son Elijah. That was the first and last message from him that year. I later found out he was dating someone already.

After a year and a half, I unexpectedly get a message on MYSPACE from Jon. He tells me that I still owe him dinner. I gave him my number and we began texting each other regularly.

Jon invited me to a release party for a clothing line he was involved with at the time. I begged my friend's Ana and Krystle to come with me because i didn't want to be alone. We ended up having a great time and actually had a lot of fun with Jon.

Truthfully, I really didn't want to think much of it because one of my good friends that

I've known since junior high knew Jon very well and as a friend, she warned me occasionally about him. Because of this, I was reluctant to tell my friends that we were starting to talk and text more and more each day.

Jon proposed to me the evening before my 32nd birthday

(12/23/2013).  He took me to Epic Roasthouse in San Francisco.

During dinner, he told me that our good friend Anh was going

to be in the City doing a photoshoot. At first I was thinking, why would he do a photoshoot outside at night in the cold? Jon said Anh was "teaching" one of his students how to shoot at night.

After dinner, Jon said that we should go say hi to them since they were literally behind EPIC Roasthouse taking photos near the bridge. There they were... all set up ready to take photos.

Jon suggested we walk closer towards the bridge so that we can see the pretty lights. As we came to a stop, he faced me and began telling me why he took me out there. He told me that he wanted to give me something. At that moment, I began shaking because I knew what was about to happen. He went down on his knees and asked me to Marry HIM!

As you can imagine, I was ecstatic and in disbelief. I never saw it coming at least not at that moment. I just kept thinking about the entire evening over and over again because it all felt so unreal.

It was perfect and to add to that, Anh was able to snap the perfect photo for us. It was played out very well!

The Perfect Proposal

San Francisco, CA

          12.23.2013

A week later, we finally ended up going out on our first real date. Jon took me to Ruth's Chris Steak House in San Francisco. It was my first time there and boy was that place good. I was so hungry that night because I had a small lunch. I wanted so badly to stuff my mouth with the delicious perfectly cooked medium rare steak i ordered but of course didn't want to look like a pig. With every little bite I took, all I could think about was how much I wanted to devour that medium rare steak and creamed spinach. We ended up packing our leftovers. I was so excited to be going home and couldn't wait to stuff my face in my leftovers.

On our way home, we saw a homeless man asking for change. Jon says to me, we should give our left over's to him. I definitely agreed to that and while I was thinking to myself just 15 minutes ago about stuffing my face in my left over's, I thought number 1, this homeless man deserves a feast and number 2, jon is such a kind giving man! i had to give him brownie points for that,

Later that week, Jon told me that Collie Buddz (reggae artist) was going to be at the DNA Lounge that Sunday. He told me he'd buy tickets for us to go and of course couldn't pass that up!

It was after that show that I knew we clicked. We clicked very well and had so much in common. Despite all the bad things I heard about jon, I put all that out my head and realized that he was a really cool person to be with.

I never thought I'd be able to meet anyone again and honestly wasn't even looking for love. All i was concerned about was taking care of me and ELijah, but one thing i knew was that if i did decide to start dating, I would not introduce Elijah to that person unless I knew that he was worth meeting my son.

one evening i walked into Jon's room hanging out and playing with his nephews and niece. I saw how good he was with them.  I knew from that moment on that I was ready to introduce Elijah to Jon.

After a year and a half of dating, we were blessed with our first child together, Joshua Jon and exactly a year later, we were blessed with our daughter Azalea Christine.
